This display cabinet was
made for a shop in Camden Market (Suay Design). They sell quality
jewellery and wanted something
which allowed people to see but not touch the jewellery unaided. It is
1000mm tall, 800mm wide and 400mm deep. The
entire area of the cabinet has been hand beaten with a hammer to
give an interesting surface texture. The whole cabinet has been spray
painted with a silver metallic paint. The
display area in the top is 200mm deep and has a hardened glass top. It has
hand made hinges and the top can only be opened with a key. The lighting
inside the cabinet is a modified B&Q fitting. The fittings are mounted
on the back of the cabinet
and for security and safety a cover has been made for these. It is shown
here without its wire. It has no doors for the 2 lower shelves as nothing
valuable will be stored on these and being on the back they are out of
public site. The bottom of the cabinet has been undersealed and also
features adjustable legs. There is a
handle either side near the top on the back to aid lifting, as the
cabinet is designed to be used just outside the shop door and moved inside
at night. There is also a mirror which matches the styling of this cabinet
but I did not photograph it!
The variations to this
cabinet are almost endless. Please get in touch to discuss your
requirements for hand made, one off shop fittings etc. The price would be
dictated by the size and complexity of what is required.
